I just cleaned out my office (it took me alllllll afternoon – yikes!) and, lo and behold there was a box! With packing peanuts! Of course, I am loathe to throw them away… any takers? It’s not an inordinate amount; the box is 8x10x6.5″ and only half full (or half empty, depending on your perspective) of peanuts.

So there you have it! I feel ridiculous shipping shipping material, so I would probably put the ‘nuts in a smaller package…. let me know if you want it! :)

A couple of folks are wondering how to “follow” this blog, and here is the info I can offer: since this is a wordpress blog and I know that many of you use blogger blogs, I don’t think you are able to “follow” us like you would a blogger blog. You can click the little orange square on the right to add us to your RSS feed. I know that I’ve seen a few wordpress blogs that have a “followers” widget similar to the blogger ones (lots of tiny avatars), and will keep my eye out for one for all of you wordpress bloggers.

Someone also mentioned categories, and we do have a few to choose from: electronics, ephemera, food packaging, mailing materials (bubble wrap, etc.), textiles, and toys & game pieces. These are just a few that I added off the top of my head when I created the blog – feel free to add more if you are able, or suggest things you’d like to see – maybe we’ve got what you are looking for!

And now something fun: two ideas for recycling your old lightbulbs :)

They are well worn, but still must have some crafting value to someone.  They come with the Minnesota key ring.   I may have more, if you are interested.

It is in loops about 3.5 ft long (about 7 ft if cut).  These are not cut, it is easy to tie loops together and use doubled.  

A medium flat rate box holds a good amount – enough to experiment with for a cost of $10.70 in postage.   If you want more, I will stuff a large flat rate box for you for $14.50 in postage. 

Here is a rug / mat that I started – my first ever so it is a little funky in the center. 

It is actually rather comfortable to walk on – even barefoot.  I think it would a good welcome mat or deck rug – it will never rot!   Here is the site with instructions.  I just don’t have time to make these or use all the twine I get.

Here is the first item up for grabs, and the one I’ll use as an example of what I think will be the easiest way to do this. I’ve hosted my photo on an account at flickr.com, which I have used for years, but you are able to upload your photos directly to this site.

A little over two hundred plastic bottle caps are::: clean, dry, anywhere from 1″ – 2″ across, and a mix of colors. Mostly red (Coke addict, and yes, I’ve used the points:), but also some yellow, black, white, green, orange, blue, brown, clear, gold, and purple. My 19 month old wanted some, but do not fear – you get them all for yourself.
